Senior business figure and recognised philanthropist Christopher Moran has welcomed the announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer that the government would not cap tax relief on charitable giving.

Mr. Moran said,

“I welcome today’s announcement by the Chancellor. The vocal reaction from the charitable sector was a signal to the government and they have clearly recognised the potential impact the policy could have had upon organisations who operate in ever more pressing circumstances. It is a positive example of government listening to the needs of those at the frontline. The UK has a considerable distance to go before our philanthropic sector gears up to that in the United States but setting government policy that encourages giving rather than hinders has to be the first step.”
